Lash Grafting - FAQ's
What Is Lash Grafting?
Lash Grafting lashes are lightweight, synthetic eyelashes that come in a variety of lengths, thicknesses and curl styles and are expertly bonded individually on a ‘lash by lash’ basis to your own natural lashes giving you longer, thicker, more luscious looking lashes. Lash Grafting is perfect for special occasions and everyday wear.
What does Lash Grafting look like when applied?
Properly applied Lash Grafting will look and feel completely natural – although definitely more full and luxurious than average natural lashes – in fact, most people will think you were born with beautiful lashes.
What does it feel like and how long does it take to apply Lash Grafting?
The entire procedure is very relaxing, it takes between 1 – 2.5 hours to apply a complete set of Lash Grafting depending on the style chosen. During this time you will be reclining with your eyes closed – many people fall asleep and wake to find their eyelashes complete. Infill treatments take approximately one hour. It is a great idea to bring your Ipod/MP3 to your appointment.
How do I look after my Lash Grafting?
The first two days following Lash Grafting application is most important – during this time the adhesive is curing to its full strength. Complete after-care instructions are provided at your initial treatment and these must be followed carefully to allow maximum bonding strength. Some clients even wear goggles in the shower for the first two days – it is amazing the lengths we will go to for our lashes! After the initial two day period your lashes are easy to care for, they do need a little special attention such as being treated gently and combed through daily but overall they are low maintenance. Special care must be taken with products that come into contact with the lashes – these must be oil, glycol and carbonate free – these products will weaken the adhesive bond.
How long will a set of Lash Grafting last?
Properly applied and maintained Lash Grafting can last up to eight weeks, however regular 2 – 3 weekly infill treatments are necessary to maintain your fabulous new look as your Lash Grafting extensions will gradually diminish in number due to the natural shedding and replenishing cycle of your own eyelashes. Infill treatments are inexpensive and usually take under one hour.
Can I apply eye makeup and mascara?
Normal use of eye makeup is fine, however you should not find it necessary to use mascara on a daily basis. If you would like to use mascara at any time it is essential you only use a water-based mascara (not water-proof or oil-based) – regular use of mascara may shorten the lifespan of your lash extensions. Care must also be taken when removing makeup not to use any products that are contain oil, glycols or carbonates – these all weaken the adhesive bond and cause Lash Grafting lashes to fall off prematurely.
Can I swim, shower, exercise, or visit a spa while wearing Lash Grafting?
Yes – following the initial two day period. Our adhesive is strong and waterproof and will withstand normal wear and tear and providing the proper after-care instructions are followed all normal activities can be carried on. As detailed in the after-care instructions, special care in the first 48 hours is very important to maximise the strength of the adhesive bond.
How do I choose the look I want?
FAB LASHES are available in a variety of lengths, thicknesses and curls which can be combined in many ways to create your special look. You may choose from FAB Flirt, FAB Minx, FAB Garbo and FAB Parisienne to determine the number of lashes desired. Your Lash Grafting lashes are then customised using lengths, thicknesses, curls and colours designed to suit your individual needs. The length and condition of your own natural lashes plays a part in determining what lash styles can be used.
What if I want to have the Lash Grafting removed?
If, at any stage, you wish to have your Lash Grafting extensions removed, do not attempt to pull them off yourself – this will pull out your natural lashes. Professional removal is quick and inexpensive and saves your natural lashes.
Can I have Lash Grafting if I don’t have many eyelashes?
Lash Grafting can only be applied to natural eyelashes. If you have experienced eyelash loss for any reason, you must wait until your eyelashes have regrown before having Lash Grafting applied. Please feel free to request a consultation to discuss this.
FAB LASHES should not, and in many cases cannot, be applied to clients who have alopecia, are undergoing chemotherapy, or those who suffer from Trichotillomania, unless the individual has received effective treatment and normal lash growth has resumed.
My eyes are very sensitive; can I still have Lash Grafting?
Yes, FAB LASHES is a high quality product line and has adhesives to suit all requirements. Allergic reactions are possible, but not commonplace and to date FAB LASHES has not experienced any form of allergic reaction to Lash Grafting application.
Should I have a trial set of eyelashes done before applying them for a wedding?
Lash Grafting is a favourite for brides – long, luscious, perfect lashes with no need for mascara. Lash Grafting should be applied two days prior to the wedding day, this ensures that they are looking at their optimum fullness on the big day and a trial set should be applied around eight weeks earlier. Trial sets are not essential, but are advisable, to ensure the bride is happy with the outcome and knows exactly what to expect.
Do you have anything to help improve the appearance of my own lashes?
Yes, we recommend the use of RAVIR Medics Lash & Brow Conditioning Treatment (you'll find this under Eye & Lip Intensives in the RAVIR site) to condition your own natural lashes and promote healthy growth. This will ensure long lasting results with your Lash Grafting extensions.
